On Monday, 8 August 2011, the 44th anniversary of the founding of the Association of South East Asian Nations, all ASEAN member states, and their diplomatic missions, will, for the first time, raise the ASEAN flag at their premises concurrently at 8:30 AM local time.
The ASEAN Secretariat will similarly raise the flag at its headquaters in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In a special ceremony, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Surin Pitsuwanthe, will welcome the President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, to deliver the traditional ASEAN Day lecture by the Head of State of the ASEAN Chair.
